This month, we are thrilled to celebrate a true Grifco hero, Rodger Bowring, our New Zealand Country Manager, who is celebrating his 19th anniversary with Grifco. Rodger’s contributions to our operations and Kiwi communities have been nothing short of remarkable.
Rodger is not only a dedicated professional but also a committed volunteer firefighter with Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ) at the Helensville Volunteer Fire Brigade, where he has served since 2007. His dedication to volunteering stems from a deep desire to give back to his community.
In New Zealand, volunteers are the backbone of nearly 600 fire stations nationwide. These volunteers help communities prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from emergencies. Beyond firefighting, they attend medical incidents, motor vehicle accidents, severe weather events, and other requests for help. They also install and check smoke alarms, improving fire safety in their communities. These brigades are made up of over 12,000 volunteer firefighters, a dynamic mix of brave individuals, united by their commitment to their community and who bring a wealth of experience to each brigade.
In his role at Grifco, Rodger supports emergency services across New Zealand through door automation and access control, ensuring they can respond swiftly to critical situations. His work is integral to keeping emergency services operational and effective.
Rodger shared his thoughts on his dual roles: “It’s fulfilling to serve both in my professional life and as a firefighter. I’m proud that my day job at Grifco plays such a critical role in keeping emergency services operational. As a firefighter, it’s an awesome feeling knowing that you helped save a person’s life or brought relief to someone’s personal situation.”
